New Fish

My tropical fish tank has been going well recently, all my fish were still alive after getting back from Egypt and everything. A few months ago I lost a lot of fish, it wasn’t unusual if I’d come home from work and 4 or 5 would be belly up. I decided that after a few months of none dying then I might get some more, but no more patties! I’ve had enough of them, because they
breed too much.

The time is now up and so at the weekend I was down the fish shop. I’ve been telling Alison for some time I’d have a shrimp. I saw one at a place in Leeds and wanted one ever since. As it happens we couldn’t really get to Leeds and so we went to the local shop. Ok they didn’t have any shrimp (not really surprising), but they did have some frogs and some massive snails! I got a frog (I don’t know what it’s called) and a Yellow Apple snail, a Gourami and ten Neon Tetras.

Everyone seems to have taken to the tank well, especially the Neons, they shoal nicely round the tank. I’ve not seen much of the frog, he’s really difficult to spot actually, I tend to see him paddling up for air. Although he’s an aquatic frog, meaning he’s got gills rather than lungs and can breath underwater, he likes to come out for a breather from under his favourite log.

They also had crabs at the shop, they looked well cool! They were a light green/blue colour with bright red claws, I would have had a couple but I’m told they would have made a meal of my bottom feeders.
