I’m swatting up this week for my interview. I’ve not done much C programming for a while, but because there is a competency test in the interview then I’m taking the opportunity to brush up my skills. I have a new book that I’ll review on here, it’s a very good guide to the language and while it’s not aimed at complete beginners it’s still fairly basic (so far anyway!).
You won’t hear much on here for that reason, but I’ll write something when I have a chance.
Saw two more houses last night. Just for ease I’m starting to number them!
House three was a three bed semi-detached house by the train station:
Highlights:
Plenty of parking
Nice size front garden
Lowlights:
Small rooms
Small North-facing back garden
Busy road to get onto in the morning
House four is, once again, a three bed semi-detached house in the same area as houses one and two.
Highlights:
Nice room sizes
Huge back garden
Lots of off road parking
Lowlights:
Not so nice neibourhood
More houses to follow!
As I wrote some time ago our broadband internet provider is no longer the best value on the market and since our minimum contract is about to be up, I’m looking at the alternatives.
ADSLGuide has been an invaluable tool: You can check ADSL internet providers by speed, by price and even by service. Using this I’ve narrowed down my search to a choice of three. Pipex (expensive), Freedom2Surf (cheap) or Prodigy (very cheap and very fast).

At the moment Prodigy is looking good. Not only are they offering free migration and a generous 2Gb limit but also 2Gb downloads and all for £15.99 a month! The only thing that worries me is the service doesn’t seem too hot, but the minimum contract is only 30 days so it’s easy to swap if we don’t like it.

We saw two house at the weekend, we’re seeing two more tonight and about six next weekend!
We liked both the houses at the weekend although they were both quite different. The first was quite big with a decent front garden, off-raod parking for two or three cars and a smaller back garden. The back garden was North facing and not very big. It looks even smaller than it is due to being dominated by a massive conniffer. The house is a three bed semi and has good size rooms inside. Apart from the original windows (single glazed with rotting frames) the house doesn’t need a great deal doing to it.
The second house is cheaper and needs a bit more work doing to it (new doors, install gas central heating) but has a much bigger back garden that faces South. The rooms are slightly smaller but still a decent size and the living room is big enough to be used as a dining room as well. On the side of the building there is also an unfinished extension, with the right planning permission this could be used for a number of things (self-contained flat, garage, utility room etc).
Previously I decided to have an icon by the side of each post to indicate the subject of it.
Hopefully you will noticed that this has now been installed and graphics added. This definitely brightens the site up and makes it easy to find what interests you.
You will also notice that by the subject of each post, and in the left side-bar, you can list posts according to their category.
I unlocked a new car on Need for Speed: Underground 2 just the other day, and now I’ve dressed it up it’s looking pretty funky. (more…)
