After finding the deal of the month the other week I went ahead and bought the Nokia 7600 on the 3 network. I must say that I’m not enthralled with the phone, although it’s fully featured the shape lets it down.
After getting the phone connected to the 3 network I’ve been trying to find how I can use the 3 USIM card in another phone. This has been harder than I imagined. Because the 3G networks use USIMs rather than the conventional SIM it won’t work in most other phones.

Using a bit of ingenuity and searching the internet I’ve managed to find out that the Nokia 6230 uses the USIM standard. I managed to try this briefly in a friends phone and sure enough I could connect to the 3 network, I didn’t get a chance to make a call to prove the theory but this is what I’ll try next. If all goes well I’ll buy the phone unlocked and put the 3 USIM in it, and use it as my regular phone. If you have a Noka 7600 or other 3G phone on the 3 network, you should be able to use the USIM in an unlocked Nokia 7600.
