Further to my post Breaking – Rover Metro Gti we’ve made quite a significant amount of progress over the weekend. most of the parts we need are off, and only the front suspension, dash board, running gear and fuel tank remain. The dash board and suspension were held up due to not having the right sockets for the job, they are both over-sized and very difficult to measure!
I’ve been informed that the right sizes are 32mm for the hub-nuts and 36mm for the steering wheel nut. I’m getting the right sockets tomorrow (with luck!) and I can finish the job at the weekend.

How are you doing on dismantling the car? Will it be finished in time for you to move house or are you taking it all with you?
The car is nearly all apart now. Just the front brakes, fuel tank, engine, gearbox and drive shaft ends to come off.
Because we don’t have a garage at the new house I won’t be able to store the car, so it’ll be taken away this weekend. Anything that’s not been taken off will go with it. I better get a move on!
