Last Wednesday night we left for Prague in the Czech Republic and returned late on Saturday night, so we had three days and three nights in the city. We timed it so that we’d see the famous Christmas Markets but not so close to Christmas that the prices were ridiculous. Actually the prices were ok, we got a budget flight from the UK with EasyJet from Nottingham East Midlands Airport
and the hotel (the Astoria
) wasn’t too bad either.
Prague has a reputation for being quite cold so we took plenty of warm clothes even though the forecast said temperatures would be close to the UK. For a nice change the forecast was accurate although it did cool down towards the weekend. It has been a warm year for all of Europe though (the Met Office has confirmed the warmest UK autumn on record
), and in fact some winter sports in the Czech Republic were canceled at the weekend due to a lack of snow.
Anyway enough typing, here’s some photos:

The Astrological Clock

The Charles Bridge

Prague Castle

Prague Old Town Square
Those are the best of mine but you can view them all at: my flickr album, and plently of other people have taken photos too so why not check out theirs
?
And you can read more about Prague and the Czech Republic at Wikipedia
Hi Iam fliying to Prague next Sunday 17-12-2006 so was really happy to hear from someone who has just come back.
Hi Suzanne, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it especially the Christmas markets. Watch out for pick-pockets though, apparently they are rife although we never had a problem or heard of anyone else who had that problem.
What are you particularly looking forward to?
Perhaps when you get back you could but a few words here about what you enjoyed the most?
Enjoy yourself!
