Further to last weeks efforts we spent all of Sunday working on breaking the metro for parts.
The gear change linkage is now out, as is the drivers side hub carrier and drive shaft. The wiring loom, clutch cable and accelerator cables are all now out. The only thing preventing us from lifting the engine out now the passenger side drive shaft, the reason being is that the hub carrier has some very rusty nuts that don’t want to come out. If they are not out with one more night of trying I’ll cut them off so that we can withdraw the drive shaft and lift out the engine and gearbox.
Apart from that we have about six more bolts to undo before the scrap metal merchant comes for it at the weekend. They are for the remains of the pedal box and the fuel tank.
Tonight I’m going rock climbing so I’ll update here on Wednesday regarding Tuesday nights progress.
