The 1800cc K Series engine utilises a different gearbox from that of the 1400 and 1600cc engines This gear-box requires a completely different gear change to that used on the 1400/1600 gearbox. Unfortunately it proved impossible to modify the standard gear change so a completely new gear change has been designed by GTM Cars Ltd. This gear change mounts on the same front pivot as the 1400/1600 gear change and therefore should you be changing engines from 1400 to 1800 no modification is required to the car. The 1800 gear change assembly Assemble the 1800 gear change on the bench away from the car as shown in the diagram. Make sure that all the top hat bearings are loose and the change works freely.

Now put the front pivot in place and mount up the rear of the gear change to the output shaft of the gearbox using the standard roll pin fitting. By adjusting the rear arm of the gear chance within the slots it should be possible within the gate within the car tunnel.

To make sure that the gear change runs wit Now adjust the rod end bearing that is attached to the gearbox to obtain the correct forward and backward motion of the gear change. Make sure that the gear change clears all the pipe work and cables through the tunnel and that it does not 'crash' with anything on its path to the rear.
