The Spyder top seatbelt mounting not only holds the seatbelt but also provides the fixing for the hood frame. The positioning of the top seatbelt mounting is important with regard to the S.V.A regulation and the strength of the mounting is equally important due to the loads it may have to take. The main mounting T263 fits outside the rear trim panel and bolts through the trim panel to mount T633 which in turn bolts through the inner strength panel of the main monologue TO1OOS The standard Austin Rover K Series Metro seatbelt top swivel bolts directly into T623. The main hood hoop T2205 bolts into the opposite side of the mounting and lies between the mounting and inside face of the monologue.

Assembly

The drawing man S1 gives the general configuration and positioning of the top seatbelt mounting. T623 and T633 bolt through the rear trim panel on the Spyder and therefore it is first necessary to bolt these 2 brackets together with a suitable spacer the thickness of the trim panel sandwiched between the two a thickness of about 3mm is appropriate and this can be obtained using washers or a suitable piece of wood. Bolt the two brackets together using the bolts provided in the fastener pack. Working from the inside of the car hold the assembled plates in the position shown on the drawing with T633 abutted against the inner strength panel of the monologue. Bracket T633 is bolted to the inner strength panel of the monologue and secured by a bracket T0634 on the inside if this strength panel.

As can be seen from view A of drawing S1 has the inner face of the seatbelt from mounting monocoque t623 to be positioned 25mm the inner face of the It is extremely difficult to obtain this measurement as well as positioning T623 in the correct position relative to the top of the monologue indicated on view B by the letter C and the front of the bracket 3mm from the edge of the door shut as indicated on View A.

concentrate in the first place on getting the bracket in the correct position in regard to the two other dimensions. The top edge of the bracket is in line with the top edge of the monologue as indicated by C and an easy way to get this dimension correct is to secure a straight edge across the monologue from the top of one side to the top side of the other. Hot melt glue is a good way of securing this straight edge.

Similarly if you glue a block of wood to the inner face of the door weather strip the appropriate distance from the door shut so that you form yourself a little location which the seatbelt mounting bracket can go into this and will make the accurate fitting of the mounting far easier. The mounting comes down at a 30 degree angle from the vertical as shown in view B and the bracket T633 lies horizontal to the car: With the seatbelt mounting in the correct position mark and drill the three 8mm clearance holes required to mount T633 to the inner strength panel of the monocoque.

Bolt T633 to the monologue using the backing plate T0634. Check the position of the top seatbelt mounting relative to the position C and the 3mm from the door shut. Now measure the 25mm dimension as shown on view A. This 25mm can be obtained by ending bracket T633 and bracket T263 appropriately to get the 25mm dimension. Once you are satisfied you have the bracket in the correct position bolt up tightly bracket t633 and unbolt bracket t263 from t633.

Once the inner trim panel has been fitted bracket t623 can be rebooted to bracket t633 through the trim panel. The standard Austin Rover K Series top seatbelt swivel is bolted to the top seatbelt mounting using the 7/16 UNF bolt provided and through the top seatbelt swivel t635. The standard plastic cover can now be used to neaten up the whole appearance.
